To be with Alessandra and her husband Rick on a tour of unique parts of Italy was not a trip, it was a treat. After a must visit to Rome with its treasures, it is only a short ride through beautiful countryside to Gubbio. It is from here that we visited the historic towns within a day's travel: ie Asissi, Spoleta and Siena. The most delightful part of this way of sightseeing was that we always returned to the same hotel each night. None of the early rising every day and travelling. We spent most of our time in one location. We were treated to great stories of the area by a genuine Italian lady who knows how to tell you of the incredible Italian culture.
